Wenge is a medium brown with reddish/yellowish hue with black streaks, if you use an oil finish the wood becomes nearly black. Wenge has a straight grain with a very coarse texture. Most common reactions to Wenge are abdominal cramps, eye and skin irritation. Wenge splinters take longer to heal and more likely to go septic then other woods. Common uses of Wenge - musical instruments, turned object, veneer and furniture.
